Frequently Asked Questions

I encountered a technical difficulty. How can I address it?

We are eager to resolve technical issues as soon as possible. Please email elearning@aila.org. It will help us if you share as much information as possible, including what browser you are using, and send a screenshot when you report the issue. Specify the name of the course and the name or code/number of the component.

I have a question about the legal information presented in an AILA product on this site. Who can I ask?

Please email the site administrator at elearning@aila.org. We will forward your question to a subject matter expert who has worked on the online course, seminar, or roundtable in question: the relevant speaker or committee member.

Can I access the AILA products on this site using my tablet or mobile device?

Yes, you can access online courses, seminars, and roundtables on any device with an internet or data connection. For live seminar and roundtable attendance, you will also need the free Zoom app on your device. In the online courses, some of the modules include an exercise which you will need to complete on a computer where you can save, edit, and upload a file.

How can I make the video less blurry?

You may notice this issue when a chart or website is displayed on the screen, and the most common reason is that you are not watching the video in the highest resolution available. Click the settings icon, which looks like a gear, in the menu bar of the video and choose the highest number available, typically 720 or 1080 HD.

How can I watch a video full screen?

In the menu bar of the video click the full screen icon, which looks like four arrows pointing outward. Making the browser window full screen will not affect the size of the video.

I opened a video but I don’t see it. Where is it?

Each new video will open in the same pop-up window as the previous video, if you did not close out of it. You may not have noticed it behind other items on your desktop.

I registered for a web seminar; where can I find the written materials?

First, please check your Agora Digital Library via the menu on agora.aila.org. If you are still having trouble finding the materials, please email teleconferences@aila.org for assistance.

I registered for a web seminar, and the site says I am still registered for the event, but there isn’t anything for me to click to join the live seminar. What can I do?

Make sure you are registered for the paid “Live” event and not the free “Recording.” If you inadvertently registered for the free recording, you may still purchase the live event. Otherwise, the recording will be made available two weeks after the airing of the live event.

I watched a seminar recording, and in the video it mentions needing to register the CLE credits through AILA within one week of seminar. Can't I just post it directly with my state bars website?

First, please register for the “CLE Included” option if you plan to request CLE credits for a seminar recording. Second, we strongly suggest you record the four-digit CLE code to report your credit with AILA through your webCLE account on ailawebcle.org. Doing so will generate a certificate of attendance that can be referenced when you log your credit with your state, and if you are audited by your state and they reach out to us we can confirm you attended.

I have registered for a roundtable; where is my link to join?

When you register for a roundtable via agora.aila.org, a downloadable PDF will be added to your Agora Digital Library with the roundtable title and link (example: https://elearning.aila.org/p/RT2022-XX-XXX). This link will take you to the eLearning product page where you can access the roundtable. You can find your Agora Digistal Library via the menu on agora.aila.org. Additionally, you will receive multiple reminder emails before the start of the roundtable where you can click on a link that says, “Get more information and attend the event”. This will also take you to the eLearning products page, where you can access the roundtable. For live roundtable attendance, you will be able to click to join 15 minutes prior to the start time of the live event. Roundtable recordings will be added not more than 10 business days after the event, and typically much sooner. You will receive an email when the roundtable recording is added to the eLearning product page. If you have any difficulties accessing the roundtable, please contact elearning@aila.org.

In an online course, I finished watching a video but it doesn’t show up as completed. How can I fix this?

You can’t watch the videos on increased speed (I.e., 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x speed). You may need to refresh the course contents page to see the video marked as complete. If the problem persists, please contact elearning@aila.org. Specify the name of the course and let us know the video code/number.

I completed an online course; where is the CLE code?

Upon completion of the course you should receive a link to the course certificate of completion; this is linked in the final component of the course and is also linked in a tab in the course menu. You will only be able to access it after completing all the course modules. The CLE code is printed at the bottom of the certificate. Please follow the CLE instructions and go to ailawebcle.org to register your credits.

I uploaded an exercise incorrectly into an online course; how can I move forward with the course?

This sometimes happens if you try to upload an exercise using a remote desktop app; it’s an issue with the remote desktop app that our course platform can’t control. Send an email to the course administrator at elearning@aila.org and we can mark the exercise complete for you on the back end of the course, so that you can proceed.

While taking an online course, can I switch between devices, including my desktop, laptop, mobile, or tablet?

Yes, the course will track your progress on multiple devices as long as you’re signed in, and you can pick up where you left off between devices, to fit your busy schedule and changing needs.

In an online course, what is the best way to navigate the discussion questions and hypothetical questions?

Please keep the question page open as a reference as you type your responses in the answer forum.

In an online course, I noticed an error in the closed captions. How can I report it?

Please report any closed captioning errors to elearning@aila.org. Specify the name of the course and the video code/number.

In an online course, it looks like the video numbers have skipped a number or are out of order. Is something missing?

The video codes/numbers are for internal and identification purposes only. AILA online courses undergo several rounds of edits in the year they are created, followed by annual updates to account for changes in immigration law. We never change a video’s code once it is assigned at the start of the course creation process. If you notice missing numbers, duplicated numbers (i.e., 704a and 704b), or out-of-order video codes/numbers, they are the intentional results of this editing/update process.

Can I purchase one registration for an online course and then let multiple users take the course from the same login?

No, each course registration allows one person to take the course; multiple users are not allowed to take the course based on the same registration with the same login.
